The U.S. Marshals Service urges the public not to divulge personal or financial information to unknown individuals. If anyone has been victimized by fraud, they are urged to report the incident to the appropriate local police department, sheriff’s office or to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In the example linked below, the scammer sent these documents to their victim by either email or text, alleging they had been charged with various crimes. The scammer poses as a Federal Public Defender, and states that to avoid jail time they must deposit US Dollar Coin, a crypto currency similar to Bitcoin, at a cryptocurrency kiosk/ATM. All of the following documents are the ones actually used in a scam attempt and are completely fabricated. The documents all contain multiple errors and contradictions.
