NextGen CM/ECF to Require Upgraded PACER Accounts

The Eastern District of Texas District Court will soon go live on NextGen CM/ECF (NextGen). At that time, attorneys will access CM/ECF using their PACER account for both e-filing and viewing case documents. Each filing attorney will need an individual PACER account to file documents. Shared PACER accounts will only be able to view documents or for research.

Action you need to take:

As soon as possible, review the information on PACER's Get Ready for NextGen CM/ECF page, and follow Step 1: Upgrade Your PACER Account. You will also find the document How to: Upgrading Your Pacer Account helpful.

*** Please Note: When you see mention of linking your PACER account to your TXED e-filing account (Step 2), remember that this cannot be completed until after the court is live on NextGen.

A note about NextGen CM/ECF: NextGen simplifies electronic filing by combining CM/ECF and PACER accounts into a single Central Sign-On account. Through the PACER website, filers will use one log-in and password to file documents electronically in all NextGen courts in which they have permission to file. They will no longer need separate CM/ECF accounts for each court that has upgraded to NextGen.

If you do not know your PACER user name or password and the Forgot Your Password? or Forgot Username? options on the PACER login page don't work for you, please contact PACER Support at 1-800-676-6856 or via email at

If you have further questions after reviewing the above information, please contact the court at the following email:

Thank you.
